How does the Contact module work and what is it used for?

The contact module creates a form which, when submitted, will send an email containing the information provided. The form can be used as-is, or scaled down to contain only a few fields. Just make sure you don't make a field required when it isn't showing.

How do I add a Contact module?

Step 1: Choose which web page and region you want to add the module to, then click the black "Add" button above this region.

Click the black Add button to add modules to a region.

Step 2: The Module pop up will appear. Choose that you would like to insert a "contact" module.

Select Contact from the Add Module popup.

Step 3: A default contact form will appear.

how do I delete a Contact module?

Step 1: Click the arrow next to the "View Messages" button.

Step 2: Select "Delete".

Step 3: Click "Okay".

How do I move a Contact module?

Click & drag the module from the four-pointed arrow on its admin bar to move the module between regions or other modules on the page.

How do I change which fields are displayed?

Step 1: Click the arrow next to the "View Messages" button and select "Settings."

Step 2: Select "Fields Displayed" from the navigation on the left
The available fields are as follows:

  • Firstname
  • Lastname
  • Name
  • Email
  • Address (includes Address 2)
  • City
  • State
  • Zip
  • Phone
  • Comments
  • Captcha

Step 3: Check/uncheck the items you do and don't want.

Step 4: Click "Save" or "Save and Continue".

How do I change which fields are required?

What is International Mode?

Checking "International Mode" will include a country dropdown and more easily handle non-United States addresses.

How do I change which email the form is sent to?

Step 1: Click the arrow next to the "View Messages" button and select "Settings".

Step 2: On the resulting screen change the "Email To" field to whichever email address you want the message delivered to. The field is third from the top.

Step 3: Click "Save" or "Save and Continue".

How do I add multiple emails?

Step 1: Click the arrow next to the "View Messages" button and select "Settings".

Step 2: On the resulting screen change the "Email To" field to whichever email addresses you want the message delivered to, separating each email address with a comma.

How do I change the subject of the email I recieve?

Step 1: Click the arrow next to the "View Messages" button and select "Settings".

Step 2: Change the text in the field marked "Email Subject" to the desired subject. It is the second field from the top.

How do I change the Thank You message?

Step 1: Click the arrow next to the "View Messages" button and select "Settings".

Step 2: Change the information in the "Thanks Message" area.

Step 3: Click "Save" or "Save & Continue."

What is Email From and what should I do with it?

This field controls the email address that appears your inbox as the email that sent the message. You can change it, or not. If you do change it, make sure it is a valid email address.

How do I view messages through Javelin?

Step 1: Click the "View Messages" button on the module bar.

Step 2a: To read the message: Click "Read" next to the message in question.
Step 2b: To archive the message: Check the box(es) next to the desired message(s), select "Archive" from the dropdown, and click "Go."
Step 2c: To resend the message: Check the box(es) next to the desired message(s), select "Resend" from the dropdown, and click "Go."
Step 2d: To export all messages as a CSV: Click the "CSV Export - All Messages" link.
Step 2e: To filter the messages: Click the "View" links from the upper right.
Step 2f: To view more/fewer messages per page: Click the "Show" links from the upper left.
