How does the Staff module work and what is it used for?

The Staff module is a multi-use module that consists of an overview page with detail pages for individual items. It can be used for displaying more than staff such as property, books, or even horses.

How do I add a Staff module?

Step 1: Log into Javelin.

Step 2: Choose which web page and region you want to add the module to, then click the black "Add" button above this region.

Click the black Add button to add modules to a region.

Step 3: The Add Module popup will appear. Choose that you would like to insert a "Staff" module.

Select Staff from the Add Module popup.

Step 4: The module will appear on the page with filler content. This content is not visible to users or while in View mode.

How do I delete a Staff module?

Step 1: Hover over the arrow next to "Add Staff."

Step 2: Select "Delete."

Step 3: Select "OK" from the prompt.

How do I move a Staff module?

Click & drag the module from the four-pointed arrow on its admin bar to move the module between regions or other modules on the page.

How do I add staff members?

Step 1: Click "Add Staff" from the module bar.

Step 2: Fill out the form. Only First Name and Last Name are required.
Step 2a: See Options for available fields.

Step 3: Click "Save" or "Save & Add More."

How do I delete staff members?

Step 1: Hover over the item to be deleted and click the trashcan icon.

Step 2: Click "OK" at the prompt.

How do I rearrange staff members?

Click & drag the item from the four-pointed arrow that appears when you hover over it to the desired location within the module.

What are my options when filling out the form?

First Name (required)
The first name of the person, add middle name/initial here, if desired.

Last Name (required)
The last name of the person, add Sr., Jr., etc. here, if desired.

Title
The job title of the person.

Image
The image that will appear when the name is clicked, on the detail page.

Thumbnail Image
The image that will appear on the summary page. If no image is selected, the image in the Image field will be used.

Summary
The text that will appear on the summary page.

Body/Staff Bio
The text that will appear on the detail page.

Email
The contact email of the person. Appears as a link on the detail page.

Address
The street address of the person.

City
The city where the person's street address is located.

State
The state where the person's city is located.

Zip
The ZIP code of the person's address.

Phone (Work)
The person's work phone, include area code and/or extension, if needed.

Phone (Mobile)
The person's cell phone, include area code, if needed.

Phone (Other)
An extra phone number, include area code and/or extension, if needed.

Phone (Fax)
The person's fax number, include area code, if needed.

Remember to hit "Save" or "Save & Add More" when you've finished adding a staff member.

How do I change the way the Staff module is displayed?

Step 1: Click the arrow next to "Add Staff" and select "Settings".

Step 2: Click the drop-down labeled "Display Type". The options are:

  • List ← Thumbnail, first and last names (w/link to detail), title, summary
  • Detail ← All information for all staff on the page. No summary or thumbnail.

Step 3: Click "Save" or "Save & Continue".

How do I change the way thumbnails are handled?

Step 1: Click the arrow next to "Add Staff" and select "Settings".

Step 2: Click the "Images" link on the left-hand "navigation".

Step 3: Change the options you want:

  • Thumbnail Width ← The width of the thumbnail image on the summary page
  • Thumbnail Height ← The height of the thumbnail image on the summary page
  • Thumbnail Crop ← Checking this will crop the thumbnail image to fit the exact dimensions set, unchecking it will make the thumbnail conform to the width (if portrait) or height (if landscape). This only applies to thumbnails on the summary page.
  • Thumbnail DirectoryDon't change this! This is the directory that Javelin takes thumbnail images if they aren't specified in the form.
  • Details Thumbnail Width ← The width of the thumbnail image on the details page
  • Details Thumbnail Height ← The height of the thumbnail image on the details page.
  • Details Thumbnail Crop ← Checking this will crop the thumbnail image to fit the exact dimensions set, unchecking it will make the thumbnail conform to the width (if portrait) or height (if landscape). This only applies to thumbnails on the details page.

Step 4: Click "Save" or "Save & Continue".
