Image Ratios

An image's aspect ratio defines the relationship between its width and its height. Having different ratios will affect the layout of the image: Portrait, Landscape, or Square.

Portrait Images

Portrait images are those where the height of the image is greater than the width of the image. This aspect, as implied by the name, is often used for portraits of people and other vertically-aligned subjects.

Landscape Images

Landscape images are those where the height of the image is less than the width of the image. This aspect, again as implied by the name, is often used for landscapes and horizontally-aligned subjects.

Square Images

Square images are those where the height of the image is equal than the width of the image. This aspect is often used for icons or thumbnail images to grab a user's attention.
